Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, but fans are clamoring for an extension. Unfortunately, community manager pezradar has dashed those hopes, explaining that the event's hard-coded nature makes it impossible to extend via server-side fixes. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar stated.
In addition to the Tristram event news, pezradar addressed the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted weekend plans for some players. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January," he explained. The delay will allow the team to implement and test new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. "The extra time allows us to implement and test the new code, and ensure that players' progress is transferred smoothly from their accounts," pezradar added. He also acknowledged the need for improved communication with players at earlier stages, a point the team is actively working to address for future updates.
In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a new free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing for European players will commence on January 25, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a unique blend, saying, "We've blended the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games." Project Pantheon seems to draw inspiration from both Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, aiming to create a new gaming experience. Players will step into the shoes of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world. The studio is keen to gather feedback from players during the alpha testing phase.
