Guns Undarkness Will Launch Demo At Steam Next Fest
Mark your calendars for February 24, 2025, as Guns Undarkness will unveil its free demo during Steam Next Fest. This eagerly anticipated project is not only led by Meguro but also features the artistic talents of Ilya Kuvshino, the character artist behind Ghost in the Shell, and the musical contributions of rapper Lotus Juice, known for his work on Persona 3.
Shoji Meguro, a stalwart at Atlus since 1995, has an impressive track record, having composed music for beloved titles like the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona series. In 2021, he ventured into indie game development while still collaborating with Atlus. His latest endeavor, Guns Undarkness, is a Sci-Fi Stealth Action JRPG that caught the public's eye at Indie Live Expo Winter 2021. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2022 that surpassed its stretch goals, the game is poised for early access release later this year.
Inspired by Metal Gear Solid and Persona
According to its Steam page, Guns Undarkness is a "turn-based tactical JRPG inspired by games like Metal Gear Solid and Persona." Set in the year 2045, the game plunges players into a world teetering on the edge of destruction. As a member of a private military company, your mission is to undertake critical tasks with your allies and unravel the mysteries threatening humanity's survival.
The gameplay of Guns Undarkness is divided into two main components: stealth and combat. Stealth sections allow players to navigate environments undetected, gaining a strategic advantage when engaging enemies. Combat, on the other hand, is turn-based, where players issue commands to their characters and utilize various firearms to secure victory.
The upcoming demo for Guns Undarkness promises around 20 minutes of gameplay, encompassing a tutorial on basic controls, the battle system, weaponry, and strategic elements of the game's early stages. Slated for an Early Access release in Spring 2025, the game will offer approximately 10 hours of playtime on PC. Although an official release date has yet to be announced, the anticipation is palpable.
