The journey of Infinity Nikki began in December 2019 when the producer of the Nikki series approached Chief Technology Officer Fei Ge with the vision of an open-world game where Nikki could explore freely and embark on adventures. The project was initially shrouded in secrecy, with the team working from a separate office. "We spent over a year recruiting and assembling our initial team, brainstorming ideas, and laying the groundwork," Fei Ge revealed.
Game designer Sha Dingyu described the integration of the Nikki IP's dress-up mechanics into an open-world setting as unprecedented and challenging. The team had to build a framework from scratch, a process that took years of research and step-by-step development.
Despite the hurdles, the team's passion never wavered. The Nikki franchise, which started with NikkuUp2U in 2012, is now on its fifth installment with Infinity Nikki, marking its first release on PC and console alongside mobile. Fei Ge emphasized the team's commitment to technological and product innovation, driven by a desire to evolve the Nikki IP.
