Square Enix has once again confirmed the ongoing development of Kingdom Hearts 4 through a new social media message, dispelling any doubts with accompanying images. Yesterday, the company announced the cancellation of the GPS-based action-RPG Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link for mobile devices, but used the occasion to reassure fans that the team remains dedicated to Kingdom Hearts 4.
"We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" the first of two posts declared, accompanied by a collage of screenshots. These images not only showcase characters but also offer glimpses of cinematics, combat, platforming, and a formidable enemy.

"We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts," the second post added. "We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support."
This update marks the first significant news about the eagerly awaited sequel in months, following a tiny, cryptic tease for Kingdom Hearts 4 back in January. Despite being unveiled in September 2022 with a full cinematic trailer, Square Enix had remained largely silent until now.
Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura has hinted that Kingdom Hearts 4 will, after 22 years and 18 games, begin to shift the Kingdom Hearts narrative towards its conclusion.
Regarding the canceled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, Square Enix expressed its "heartfelt apologies to everyone who have been looking forward" to it. The project was canceled because it was "determined that it would be difficult [...] to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time."
