Niantic's Pokémon GO Sunkissed Shores event begins August 25th at 10:00 a.m., running through August 31st, 2025, until 8:00 p.m. This week-long celebration introduces Dondozo, the massive Big Catfish Pokémon from the Paldea region.
Dondozo Debuts in Pokémon GO for the First Time
Dondozo is a colossal Water-type fish Pokémon. Its coloration transitions from light blue on top to dark blue in the middle, with white accents on its upper lip, belly, and fins. Known as a glutton that follows Tatsugiri, it is weak to Grass and Electric-type moves and does not evolve.
Throughout the Sunkissed Shores event, you can find Dondozo appearing in the wild and as a three-star Raid Boss. Defeating raids also grants a 2× XP bonus for victory.
Wild spawns for the event feature a beach-themed lineup. Expect increased encounters with Psyduck, Shellder, Marill, Shuckle, Wingull, Tepig, Helioptile, Bounsweet, Sandygast, and Lechonk.
Oricorio also plays a prominent part, with its forms appearing regionally: Baile Style in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; Pom-Pom Style in the Americas; Pa’u Style across African, Asian, Pacific, and Caribbean islands; and Sensu Style in the Asia-Pacific region.
Similarly, Tatsugiri's regional forms will be available in raids: Curly Form in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; Droopy Form in the Americas; and Stretchy Form in the Asia-Pacific region. Three-star raids will also feature Alolan Raichu, Alolan Marowak, and the debuting Dondozo.
The Sunkissed Shores event follows right after the Dark Skies event, which runs from August 18th to 23rd and focuses on Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles. With so much action lined up, now is the perfect time to download Pokémon GO from the Google Play Store if you haven't already.
