Rummy 500 (also known as Persian Rummy, Pinochle Rummy, 500 Rum, or 500 Rummy) offers a unique twist on classic Rummy. Unlike standard Rummy, players can draw multiple cards from the discard pile, adding a strategic layer to gameplay.
Points are awarded for melding cards, while penalties apply for unmelded cards (deadwood) remaining in your hand at the end of a round.
Game Rules:
- Supports 2-4 players.
- Uses a single deck with jokers.
- Each player starts with 7 cards.
- The first player to reach 500 points wins. In case of a tie, a playoff determines the victor.
- Gameplay involves forming sets (3-4 cards of the same rank) and sequences (3 or more cards of the same suit in order). Scoring is based on card values within these melds.
- Turns consist of drawing a card, melding (laying down sets or sequences), building (adding to existing melds), and discarding.
- Jokers are wild cards.
- Discard pile cards can be drawn, but the last discarded card must be used immediately in a meld.
- Royalty cards are worth 10 points each, Aces are 11 (in a meld) or incur a 15-point penalty if held at the end of a round. Jokers take the value of the card they replace, plus a 15-point penalty if held.
- The game comprises multiple rounds, with scores accumulating until a player reaches or exceeds 500 points.
