Boerenbridge (Chinese Pooping) Card Game Rules and Scoring
Boerenbridge, also known in Flanders as Chinese Pooping, is a popular card game that focuses on predicting and achieving a specific number of strokes or tricks in each round. Here's how to keep track of points and play the game:
Objective
The goal is to accurately predict and achieve the number of strokes (tricks) you will win in each round.
Gameplay Setup
- Number of Players: Typically 3 to 5 players.
- Deck: A standard 52-card deck is used.
Game Rounds
- Card Distribution: The game starts with one card dealt to each player in the first round. Each subsequent round, one additional card is dealt until reaching the maximum number of cards (e.g., 10 cards per player with 5 players). After the maximum, the number of cards dealt decreases back to one card per player in the final round.
- Bidding: Starting with the player to the left of the dealer, each player predicts the number of strokes they will win. The highest bidder determines the trump suit.
- Dealer's Restriction: The dealer, who bids last, cannot predict a number that would make the total predictions equal to the number of cards dealt in that round.
Scoring
- Points for Achieving Prediction: If a player accurately predicts and achieves the exact number of strokes they bid, they earn 10 points plus the number of strokes they won.
- Points for Missing Prediction: If a player does not achieve their predicted number of strokes, they lose 10 points.
- Example: If a player bids 3 strokes and wins exactly 3 strokes, they earn 10 + 3 = 13 points. If they win 2 or 4 strokes, they lose 10 points.
Winning the Game
- The player with the highest total points at the end of the final round (when each player is dealt one card again) wins the game.
