Tsukuyomi: Divine Hunter - Kazuma Kaneko's New Roguelike Deck-Builder

Author : Jonathan Update:May 14,2025

Kazuma Kaneko, the iconic designer known for his work on Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and Devil Summoner, is set to launch a new roguelike deck-building game titled Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter. Developed by COLOPL, this exciting title will be available on PC, iOS, and Android, blending Kaneko's signature dark, mythological style with strategic card-based gameplay.

Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter is set in a futuristic Tokyo Bay, where the towering high-rise known as The Hashira serves as the battleground. This sealed-off structure is now home to gods and demons, and it's up to the elite national defence force, Tsukuyomi, to ascend to the top floor and eliminate a formidable target.

The game's setting seamlessly merges urban decay with supernatural horror, echoing the themes found in Kaneko's previous works. This fusion of mythology and cyberpunk creates an eerie and tense atmosphere that players can expect to experience upon its release later this year.

In Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter, players will engage in a roguelike card game experience, building a deck of powerful abilities while navigating a dynamic dungeon. Each run presents unique challenges with different cards, layouts, and enemy encounters, ensuring no two playthroughs are the same.

Combat in the game is fast-paced and turn-based, requiring players to make strategic decisions with each turn. You'll have the option to perform one action per turn, which could be either an attack or a defensive move, so quick thinking is essential to succeed.

As you explore the dungeon, you'll encounter branching paths and pivotal choices that influence your journey. Each decision carries lasting consequences, impacting battles and resource availability. True to the roguelike genre, failure in combat means losing all progress and starting over, emphasizing the need for careful planning.

Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter is slated for release around June 30th, though this date may be subject to change. Interested players can pre-register by clicking on the preferred link provided below.
