For some time now, Tekken fans have been clamoring for a unique in-game experience: a stage set in Waffle House. While it may sound like a whimsical request, Tekken 8's director, Katsuhiro Harada, has been actively engaging with this idea. Despite his interest, Waffle House has yet to take the bait.
On X/Twitter, Harada responded to fans who continue to passionately request a Waffle House stage for Tekken 8. This demand has gained significant traction, especially since Harada has shown a keen interest in exploring the possibility.
Harada admitted that he "fully understands" the fans' requests. He's not only considered the idea but has also taken steps to make it a reality. In a post on X/Twitter, he revealed, "Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels. However, and this is purely my own speculation, I suspect that the lack of response may be due to the fact that the project I'm known for revolves around 'fighting-themed video games.'"
"To be honest, within the bounds of what I can say, I fully understand your (you guys) request—that's precisely why I had considered taking on this challenge. In fact, I had already been thinking about it quite a while ago. Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make… https://t.co/Sa5oSpk2IZ" — Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKE N) May 13, 2025Harada pointed out that receiving "no response" is a rare occurrence for him. He further suggested that if a different name or format is acceptable, as long as "the core message is maintained," he would be open to revisiting and exploring the concept.
It appears that fans won't see Kazuya and Jin battling it out under the iconic yellow glow of a Waffle House sign anytime soon. However, a parody or an in-universe equivalent could still be on the table. Harada floated the idea of "Hustle House" in another post, which could serve as a creative workaround.
In other Tekken 8 news, the game is currently rolling out Patch 2.01 and has confirmed the addition of Fahkumram to the roster. Back in April, Harada addressed fan concerns about Tekken 8's Season 2, reassuring players that the tuning team is working tirelessly to incorporate feedback and enhance future updates.
