On April 9, Sega took to Twitter (X) to announce that Sonic Rumble will be released worldwide on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this exciting news was the release of a new trailer, offering fans a glimpse into the game's dynamic gameplay.Sonic Rumble marks the debut of a multiplayer party game within the Sonic franchise, allowing up to 32 players to engage in fierce competition across various levels and game modes. Sega describes the game as, "Players control a character from the Sonic series as they navigate a toy world crafted by the nefarious Dr. Eggman, tackling challenging obstacle courses and perilous arenas!"
Given its free-to-play model, there were concerns about potential pay-to-win elements. However, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these concerns during an interview with Automaton at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September 2024. He stated, "Our goal is to implement a straightforward system where players can purchase exactly what they want for a small, fixed price, avoiding the randomness of gacha mechanics."
Sonic Rumble Surpasses 900,000 Pre-Registrations
