Star Wars Celebration has unveiled the first look at Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll in Season 2 of Ahsoka. For those new to the series, McCann steps into the role of Baylan following the unfortunate passing of Ray Stevenson, who originally portrayed the character.
Although we haven't seen McCann perform yet, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration provided an exclusive first-look image, which you can view below.
Ray Stevenson, celebrated for his roles in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and more, tragically passed away due to a brief illness just three months before Ahsoka's debut. Many fans and critics alike consider Stevenson's portrayal of Baylan as the highlight of the series to date.
Ahsoka series creator Dave Filoni spoke candidly about the immense challenge of losing Ray Stevenson, describing him as "the most beautiful person on screen and off," which made his absence a significant hurdle in the development of Season 2.
During the panel, Filoni and his team teased additional details about what fans can anticipate in Season 2, confirming the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, along with other beloved characters such as Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, and more.
In our review of Ahsoka's inaugural season, we noted that it "initially struggles to bring viewers up to speed with characters and concepts from Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars shows. However, once the actors and cosmic plots are given the spotlight, Ahsoka strikes a delightful balance of rich lore, humor, and epic battles, evoking the essence of classic Star Wars while paving the way for fresh narratives."
