The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller boasts a significantly faster charging time compared to its predecessor. As Nintendo Life reported, the latest tech specs reveal that the new $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller takes just about three-and-a-half hours to fully charge when using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. This is nearly half the time it takes to charge the original Pro Controller, which requires a full six hours.
The good news doesn't stop there. Despite the quicker charging time, the Switch 2 Pro Controller maintains an impressive 40-hour battery life, matching its predecessor. Additionally, it introduces new features such as the C button and two additional GL/GR buttons on the underside. The new model is also slightly lighter and smaller, enhancing portability and comfort.

For those loyal to their original controllers, Nintendo has confirmed that the original controller will be compatible with the new console system. This means you won't have to part with your favorite gear just yet.
Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. While pre-orders were initially slated to open in early April in the U.S., due to tariff-related uncertainty, Nintendo pushed the pre-order date back to April 24. They have also confirmed that the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games will remain unchanged. However, there has been a price increase on most Switch 2 accessories, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller now costing $85, up from $80.
