Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
During the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, it was revealed that Deltarune will launch a version specifically tailored for the Switch 2, featuring Chapters 3 and 4 alongside exclusive features designed for the next-gen console. Toby Fox, the developer behind Deltarune, shared exciting news through a Fangamer newsletter. He revealed that the Switch 2 version would include a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" that utilizes the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox exclaimed, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
Even players without a Switch 2 won't miss out completely; they can still access the special room, albeit with a different control scheme. Furthermore, fans can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 into this new version, ensuring a smooth transition.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
In the same newsletter, Toby Fox announced that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99. This price covers Chapters 1 and 2, along with the newly released Chapters 3 and 4. Initially, Chapter 1 was released in 2018, followed by Chapter 2 in 2021, both of which were offered for free. Although it was previously stated that Chapters 3-5 would be paid content, Fox has now confirmed that all future chapters will be available as free updates. He expressed his vision, saying, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
Additionally, the game's soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, encompassing over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Future chapters will also see their songs added for free, ensuring that fans get the most out of their investment.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 are scheduled to launch on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the Switch 2's release.
