After a 15-year tenure, Greg Reisdorf, Call of Duty's Multiplayer Creative Director, has departed Sledgehammer Games. His contributions spanned numerous Call of Duty titles, beginning with Modern Warfare 3 (2011). Reisdorf played a pivotal role in the development of Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer, including its live seasonal content and modes.
Reisdorf's journey with Sledgehammer Games, established in 2009, encompassed key moments in Call of Duty history. His involvement in the original Modern Warfare 3 extended to memorable sequences like Soap's gurney scene in the "Blood Brothers" mission. He also significantly impacted the "boots on the ground" era with his work on Advanced Warfare, contributing to features like boost jumps and tactical reloads, although he expressed reservations about the "Pick 13" system.
His contributions to Call of Duty: WW2 included addressing concerns about the initial weapon restrictions imposed by the "Divisions" system. In Call of Duty: Vanguard, he championed traditional three-lane maps, prioritizing enjoyable gameplay over strict military realism.
His recent work culminated in 2023's Modern Warfare 3, where he oversaw multiplayer development and the creation of numerous live seasonal modes, including the popular Snowfight and Infectious Holiday modes. He spearheaded the creation of over 20 modes for the game's post-launch support. Reisdorf's announcement on Twitter confirmed his departure on January 10th, 2024, and hinted at future endeavors within the gaming industry.
