Confirmed Price: $70 Instead of $80
Borderlands 4 Pre-Orders Now Available!
Gearbox Software has officially revealed Borderlands 4's pricing as pre-orders launched globally. The Borderlands Twitter (X) account announced on June 16th that players can now secure their copies across all platforms.
The announcement confirmed three pricing tiers: $70 for Standard Edition, $100 for Deluxe Edition, and $130 for Super Deluxe Edition, putting an end to speculation about potential $80 pricing.
The pricing controversy began weeks earlier when Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford gave ambiguous responses about the game's cost. On May 14th, he tweeted that "real fans" would adapt to hypothetical $80 pricing, sparking backlash across the community.
Following sustained criticism, Pitchford claimed ignorance about the actual pricing on May 29th, issuing an apology tweet attempting to clarify his previous statements.
"I sincerely regret any misunderstanding," Pitchford wrote. "My genuine intention is ensuring fair value for players. I always strive for customers to feel they're getting more than what they paid for."
Despite these clarifications, many fans remained skeptical due to the initial "real fans" remark. The official pre-order announcement finally eased concerns by confirming standard AAA pricing.
