Devil May Cry 5 has reached a remarkable sales milestone of 10 million copies, with Capcom crediting the recently launched Netflix anime series for helping the video game cross this threshold.
Released in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, Devil May Cry 5 was praised by both players and critics. IGN’s review scored it a 9.5, stating: "Devil May Cry 5 elevates the series with its trio of outstanding combat styles, while its intriguing narrative keeps players engaged throughout."
Now, six years after launch, Devil May Cry 5 stands as a major commercial success for Capcom. The company noted, “The title has earned strong player loyalty thanks to its exceptional gameplay experience, contributing to steady catalog sales since its release."
“Capcom enhanced the game's storytelling and combat by introducing a new playable character. More recently, on April 3, 2025, the company launched a new Devil May Cry animated series on Netflix as part of its Single Content Multiple Usage strategy.
The animated series received widespread critical acclaim, amassing over 5.3 million views and ranking fourth globally in the "Shows | English" category during its debut week. It also remained in Japan's top 10 for seven consecutive days. Thanks to the game's thrilling action and efforts to expand the brand beyond gaming—including television adaptations—global cumulative sales have now surpassed 10 million units.”
Given the success of Devil May Cry 5—and the series’ total sales exceeding 33 million units since its 2001 debut—fans are eager to know: when will Devil May Cry 6 arrive? With 10 million copies sold over six years, a sequel appears inevitable, if not already in development.
