The trailer not only showcases the new Xenomorph design but also highlights the striking similarity in aesthetic to Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 horror film, Alien. A scene set inside a MU/TH/UR control room, reminiscent of the Nostromo's, captures a crew member's desperate plea for help as the Xenomorph advances. Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the "specimens are loose," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship's course for Earth. The trailer also teases the arrival of six soldiers, presumably heading towards the crashed ship, hinting at their grim fate.
The trailer raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Are there any other survivors, and could any be impregnated by the Xenomorph? How will the soldiers meet their end?
Alien: Earth sets the stage for a mysterious space vessel crashing on Earth, where a young woman (played by Sydney Chandler) and a group of tactical soldiers make a "fateful discovery" that pits them against the planet's greatest threat.
FX’s *Alien* series is set in 2120, fitting neatly between *Prometheus* and the events of the original *Alien*. This timeline has sparked speculation that *Alien: Earth* might show the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how Weyland-Yutani learned about the Xenomorphs. For context, the recently released *Alien: Romulus* is set between *Alien* and *Aliens*.In January of last year, showrunner Noah Hawley explained his decision to steer away from the Prometheus backstory for Alien: Earth. He expressed a preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films and, after discussions with Ridley Scott about various elements of the Alien series, chose to focus on the lore established in the earlier movies.
Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with Alien: Romulus 2 also in development.
