How to Play
The objective of Hearts is simple: finish the game with the lowest score. The game ends when any player reaches 100 or more points.
Each hand, players must follow suit if possible (e.g., if Clubs are led, you must play a Club if you have one). If you can't follow suit, you may play any card—but you cannot play a Heart or the Queen of Spades on the first trick.
The player who plays the highest card of the leading suit wins the trick. That player collects all cards in the trick and earns penalty points:
- 1 point for each Heart captured
- 13 points for the Queen of Spades
However, if a player successfully captures all 13 Hearts and the Queen of Spades—a move known as "Shooting the Moon"—they are rewarded with 0 points, while every other player receives 26 points.
