The Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Systems are essential tools for individuals managing diabetes, providing real-time glucose monitoring without the need for fingersticks and calibration*. These systems are designed to help you make informed diabetes treatment decisions by offering continuous glucose readings every five minutes for patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, suitable for children aged 2 years and older.
With the Dexcom G6 and G6 Pro, you can always stay informed about your glucose levels and their trends directly on your smart device. This enables you to effectively manage your diabetes by receiving personalized trend alerts that notify you when your glucose levels are too low or too high. The Alert Schedule feature allows you to customize and schedule a second set of alerts, tailoring them to fit your daily routine, such as work hours. You can also set custom alert sounds, including a Vibrate-Only option on your phone for glucose alerts, although the Urgent Low Alarm remains non-disableable for safety reasons.
The Always Sound setting, which is enabled by default, ensures that you receive critical Dexcom CGM Alerts even when your phone is set to silent, vibrate, or Do Not Disturb mode. This feature allows you to mute calls and texts while still receiving audible alerts for the Urgent Low Alarm, Low and High Glucose alerts, Urgent Low Soon Alert, and Rise and Fall Rate alerts. An icon on your home screen indicates whether your alerts will sound. For safety, the Urgent Low Alarm and certain system alerts, such as Transmitter Failed, Sensor Failed, and App Stopped, cannot be silenced.
Additional features of the Dexcom G6 include the ability to share your glucose data in real time with up to ten followers using the Dexcom Follow app, requiring an internet connection. Health Connect access allows you to share retrospective glucose data with third-party apps, and the Quick Glance feature lets you check your glucose data directly from your smart device's lock screen. For those using Wear OS devices, integration with Dexcom G6 enables you to receive glucose alerts and alarms on your watch.
