Russian Checkers 8×8
Move and Capture Rules:
- White begins the game
- Checkers move exclusively on dark squares
- It's mandatory to capture an opponent's checker if possible
- Captures are allowed both forward and backward
- Kings can move and capture on any diagonal square
- Follows the Turkish strike rule, where an opponent's checker can be captured only once per move
- If multiple capture options are available, any can be chosen, not necessarily the one capturing the most pieces
- Upon reaching the opponent's edge and becoming a king, it can immediately continue playing as a king if the opportunity arises
Draw Conditions:
- A draw is declared if a player with checkers and three (or more) kings against one opponent's king does not capture the opponent's king by the 15th move after establishing the balance of forces
- In king-only endings, if the balance of forces remains unchanged for 30 moves in 4-5 piece endings, or 60 moves in 6-7 piece endings, a draw is declared
- If a player with three checkers (any combination of kings and regular checkers) against one opponent's king on the "high road" cannot capture it by the 5th move, it's a draw
- A draw is declared if only kings move for 15 consecutive moves without any regular checkers moving or being captured
- If the same position repeats three or more times with the same player to move each time, a draw is declared
International Checkers 10×10
Move and Capture Rules:
- White starts the game
- Checkers move only on dark squares
- Capturing an opponent's checker is mandatory if possible
- Captures are allowed in both forward and backward directions
- Kings have the freedom to move and capture on any diagonal square
- Adheres to the Turkish strike rule, allowing only one capture per move
- The majority rule applies: if multiple capture options exist, the one capturing the most pieces must be chosen
- A regular checker can continue capturing after reaching the opponent's edge without becoming a king, but if it reaches the edge through a regular move or during a capture and can't continue capturing, it becomes a king and stops moving until the next turn
