Tute is a beloved card game that enjoys widespread popularity in Spain and throughout Latin America. It can be enjoyed by 2 to 5 players individually, or by four players organized into teams of two.
The objective of Tute is to be the first to accumulate a predetermined number of points. The game uses a traditional Spanish deck consisting of forty cards.
The hierarchy of cards in Tute, ranked from highest to lowest, is as follows: Ace (worth 11 points), 3 (10 points), King (4 points), Knight (3 points), Jack (2 points), followed by the number cards 7, 6, 5, 4, and 2. Note that the white cards (7, 6, 5, 4, and 2) carry no point value.
In gameplay, the suit of the first card played sets the suit for the trick. Players are required to follow suit if possible. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play any card, including trump cards. The highest trump card played wins the trick; if no trump cards are played, the trick is won by the highest card of the leading suit.
