Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio have launched their latest adventure game, Universe for Sale. Akupara Games, known for releasing intriguing titles earlier this year like The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti, continues to captivate gamers with this new addition.
Is the Universe Really for Sale?
Set on a space station orbiting Jupiter, Universe for Sale introduces players to a bizarre bazaar enveloped in acid rain and shrouded in mystery. Here, witty orangutans manage the docks, and cultists trade flesh for enlightenment. The universe on sale is due to Lila, a woman with the extraordinary ability to create universes from the palm of her hand.
As the game begins, you arrive in the shantytown of a mining colony, playing as the Master, a skeletal figure and member of the Cult of Detachment. The setting is both eerie and enthralling. You navigate the colony, filled with rickety tea shops and other curiosities, until you enter Honin’s Tea House, which is Lila’s shop. Lila's mysterious nature unfolds as you alternate between her and the Master's perspectives throughout the game.
Playing as Lila involves a unique mini-game where you mix and match ingredients to create stunning visual universes. On the other hand, as the Master, you delve into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounter the Church of Many Gods. The narrative deepens as you progress, prompting theories about the underlying truths. Each character, whether human, skeletal, or robotic, has a rich backstory, and the game world is brimming with details inviting thorough exploration.
