Unraveling the Vatican's Enigma
Following the Sacred Wounds puzzle, Indy uses his scroll to locate the Fountain of Confession. Remember to photograph all clues for Adventure Points! Exit Antonio's office (as in the Sacred Wounds mission), use your map, and locate the stairs leading to the fountain.
The Fountain Key and Dragon Statues
First, retrieve the fountain key from the chest near the construction area. This unlocks the storage room. Use your whip to reach the rooftop, then swing across to the fountain's top. You'll find two dragon statues. Swing to the second statue, grab the claw, and use the lever to rotate it to face the opposite dragon. Repeat for the other statue (its claw will be missing).
Gina's Intervention and the Missing Claw
The missing claw is on the scaffolding below. Rappelling down triggers a cutscene with Gina Lombardi. After the cutscene, retrieve the claw.
Reassembling the Dragons and Rotating the Statue
Return to the statue, insert the claw, and rotate the dragon to face its counterpart. This rotates the fountain statue, revealing the next stage. Rappel down.
The Wall Puzzles: Baptism and the Angel's Journey
Use your whip to pull the fountain statue, revealing a gate blocked by three statues. A lever appears; Indy and Gina activate it, unveiling the first puzzle (a baptism scene). Use the inscriptions for hints. Position the larger male statue under the water, activate the mechanism, and “baptize” the smaller statue.
The second puzzle involves moving stone layers to guide an angel across the wall. Use the handles to control the angel's movement. Move the angel to the right.
The Final Push and the Spiral Staircase
Finally, push the remaining central statue through the gate. This unlocks a spiral staircase, leading to the next part of the game.
