Seka, also known as sikka, sichka, strekoza, trinka, trynka, drynka, three leaves, two leaves, and others, is a versatile card game that brings excitement to the table. Here's a detailed look at how to play and enjoy this game.
Features:
- The game accommodates between 2 to 10 players.
- A full deck of 52 cards is used. For games with up to 4 players, only 20 cards are used (from Tens to Aces).
- For 5 to 10 players, the game uses 36 cards (from Sixes to Aces).
- The game includes a Joker, which can be assigned to any suit, typically a Six, by mutual agreement.
Card Values:
- Joker and Ace: 11 points each
- King to Ten: 10 points each
- Lower cards are valued at their face value.
The player with the highest total score at the end of the game wins.
Game Rules:
- Starting the Game: The dealer is chosen by a draw. Players contribute a predetermined amount to the pot.
- Dealing: The dealer gives each player three cards. Players then decide whether to discard or play.
- Scoring: Points are counted for cards of the same suit - this is called a "hlyust" (e.g., a Seven and a Jack of Clubs give 17 points). If there's no hlyust, the player scores points only from their highest card.
- Three of a Kind (Trikon, Trynka): If a player has three cards of the same rank, this always scores higher than any hlyust but is outscored by a higher trikon.
- Bidding: Starting with the player to the right of the dealer, each player can fold, call, or raise the bet.
- Showdown: After the betting round, the first player decides whether to continue bidding or reveal the cards.
- Winning the Pot: The pot goes to the player with the highest score. In case of a tie, players can choose to split the pot or start a new round called "svara."
- Svara: This new round starts with the same pot plus an additional contribution of 1/N (where N is the total of the previous pot). Other players can join in with additional contributions.
- Bluffing: Players can bluff by raising the bet even if they have fewer points. If successful, the bluffer wins the pot without revealing their cards.
- "Temenie" (Dark Bet): The player to the left of the dealer can place an additional bet of any size without looking at their cards. Subsequent players must double this bet to stay in the game.
