DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Begins Filming; First Look at Milly Alcock Revealed
Production has officially commenced on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. To mark the occasion, DC Studios head James Gunn unveiled a first look at Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl.
The image, shared on Bluesky, depicts Alcock seated in her director's chair. Gunn expressed his excitement, stating, "Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) as director, as previously reported.
The film will closely adapt Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's acclaimed graphic novel. This standalone story centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl who seeks Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel garnered a 2022 Eisner Award nomination for "Best Limited Series."
Matthias Schoenaerts is cast as Krem, with Eve Ridley portraying Ruthye. Additional cast members include David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and Jason Momoa, reprising his role as Lobo within the rebooted DC Universe.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow follows James Gunn's Superman: Legacy, slated for release this summer, as the second film in the newly established DC Universe.
