During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels announced plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The original game, a critically acclaimed action RPG based on the Harry Potter universe, has sold over 24 million copies since its release.
"Developing a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is a top priority for us in the coming years," Wiedenfels stated, as reported by Variety. "We anticipate significant growth from our games business, and this sequel will be a major contributor."
Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad previously highlighted the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. In an earlier Variety interview, Haddad emphasized, "Many players have revisited the game multiple times." He further praised the game's ability to "bring Harry Potter to life in a new way," allowing players to immerse themselves in the world and story.
This immersive experience, Haddad believes, is what truly resonated with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts.
