Good news for players anticipating Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2! Developer Saber Interactive has officially confirmed the game will launch without any DRM (Digital Rights Management) software. This means no Denuvo or similar technology will hinder your gameplay experience.
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2: A DRM-Free Experience
No Microtransactions, Just Cosmetics
Saber Interactive's recent FAQ clarifies several key aspects of the upcoming title. The absence of DRM is a significant point, addressing player concerns about performance impacts often associated with such software. While DRM aims to combat piracy, its implementation has sometimes resulted in negative consequences, such as compatibility issues (as seen with Capcom's Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise).
While DRM is absent, the PC version will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat software at launch. While generally effective, this anti-cheat system has faced scrutiny in the past, notably in relation to an Apex Legends hacking incident.
Currently, there are no plans for official mod support. However, this is offset by the inclusion of exciting features such as a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Importantly, Saber Interactive has pledged that all core gameplay content will be free, with any microtransactions strictly limited to cosmetic items and no paid DLC.
