Mastering the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Staff of Ice Upgrade
The Staff of Ice, a unique Wonder Weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, boasts a weak base form but a powerful upgraded version crucial for high-round survival and Easter egg hunts. This guide details the upgrade process on The Tomb map.
Prerequisites:
Before upgrading, you need the Staff of Ice itself. Acquire it from the Mystery Box or by collecting its three components. Early access to the Dark Aether Nexus, achieved by opening the Door to Nowhere, is also essential.
Upgrade Steps:
Step 1: Freezing Dark Aether Crystals
Freeze three Dark Aether Crystals consecutively using the Staff of Ice. These crystals reside in underground lanterns (black frame, purple glow). Perks like Stamin-Up and PHD Flopper (with Tribologist) significantly aid this step. Optimize your route; a suggested path involves the tomb area, the Shrine of the Hierophants, and the Subterranean Temple entrance lantern (avoiding the lantern near Quick Revive due to distance). Successful completion triggers a quote from Archibald, signaling progression to the Dark Aether Nexus.
Step 2: Targeting Floating Runes
Within the Dark Aether Nexus, locate three floating rocks bearing glowing purple Runes. Each Rune displays a unique symbol. Shoot each Rune with the Staff of Ice (a hitmarker confirms success). This lowers the rocks, improving visibility. A scoped weapon might enhance accuracy. The order of shooting is inconsequential.
Step 3: Solving the Rune Puzzle
After Step 2, a stone wall replaces a portal in the Dark Aether Nexus. Return to the corresponding map area and locate a wall with Runic symbols. Identify the three symbols matching those from the floating rocks. Shoot these symbols with the Staff of Ice. The portal will reappear, regardless of symbol accuracy; however, incorrect symbols result in a mid-air Dark Aether Nexus drop. Multiple failures may require waiting for the next round. Correct symbols lead to a floating rock and a purple orb. Interact with the orb.
Step 4: Escorting the Soul Chest Orb
After interacting with the orb, it begins moving. Kill zombies near the orb; their essence fuels its movement. Guide the orb to the central Dark Aether Nexus structure, where it forms a small purple portal. Interact with this portal to upgrade the Staff of Ice to Ull’s Arrow.
Ull’s Arrow Abilities:
The upgraded Ull’s Arrow retains the powerful charged AoE attack, similar to its Origins counterpart. It also gains an alternate fire mode for reviving downed teammates.
