Ubisoft is steering Skull and Bones into its most ambitious year yet, with Year 2 promising a bounty of new content, including new game modes, ships, and the much-anticipated addition of a Kraken. However, the crown jewel of these updates is the long-awaited land combat feature, which fans have eagerly requested since the game's debut last February.
During a special Year 2 showcase that aired yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled its roadmap for the coming year, filled with exciting developments. The highlight is Season 3: Guts and Glory, set to launch this fall, introducing the land combat players have been craving. This new feature will allow players to engage in swordfights and use firearms on land, expanding the gameplay beyond the seas. As part of the Season 3 Rogue Warlord update, players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to rescue skilled crew members known as Officers. A teaser video gave a glimpse of what's to come, though full details will be revealed closer to the season's release.
While land combat is the standout feature of Skull and Bones Year 2, the showcase revealed a treasure trove of other additions planned for 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, which launches today, April 15, introduces an item ascension feature to enhance loot, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the Death Tides PvP mode for team-based play. Season 2: Oaths of War, slated for summer 2025, will bring Megaforts and the massive Frigate large ships into the fray. Finally, Season 4: Eye of the Beast, set for this winter, will introduce the fearsome Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.
