Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their freshly launched settlement builder game, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update perfectly complements the game's darker, pixel-art aesthetic by introducing a host of new mechanics to explore.
Even though TownsFolk is new to the scene, the developers are not holding back on enriching the gameplay experience. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings new buildings and challenges to the mix, significantly altering how players interact with the game. One of the new additions includes roaming Barbarians that add a thrilling edge to both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Furthermore, players can now construct eight new structures: the Altar, Town Square, Blacksmith, Aqueduct, Bank, Granary, Factory, and Terraformer, each offering unique benefits and strategic opportunities.
The aquatic environment is also getting an upgrade with the introduction of the rare Whale, adding a new layer of intrigue to water tiles. Additionally, Special Locations like ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks are being added to increase the game's unpredictability and depth.
To help players navigate through these new additions, a comprehensive Compendium will serve as an in-game encyclopedia. The Exploration System has been revamped, and players now have the flexibility to adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes, tailoring the challenge to their preferred level of difficulty.
