Sphere Defense, the latest tower defense sensation by Tomnoki Studio, pays homage to the iconic geoDefense game by David Whatley, released over a decade ago. The developer, inspired by the simplicity and challenge of geoDefense, brings a fresh yet nostalgic experience to Android users.
What's the Premise?
In Sphere Defense, players are thrust into a world where Earth, referred to as 'The Sphere,' teeters on the edge of annihilation by relentless invaders. Humanity, forced underground, has been working tirelessly to develop new technologies for a counterattack. After years of enduring attacks, they've finally amassed enough firepower to launch a defense. As a player, you lead this crucial counterattack to save the planet.
The gameplay harkens back to the classic tower defense formula. You strategically place units with unique abilities to fend off waves of enemies. Accumulating kills earns you resources, which you can use to enhance or expand your defenses. The game offers escalating difficulty levels, demanding more strategic planning as you progress.
Players can choose from three difficulty settings: easy, normal, and hard. Each setting includes 10 stages, with each stage lasting between 5 to 15 minutes. Get a sneak peek of the gameplay in the video below!
Set Up Turrets to Mow Your Enemies Down
Sphere Defense offers seven types of units, allowing you to craft diverse strategies to survive the onslaught. The attack units include the Standard Attack Turret for single-target damage, the Area Attack Turret for dealing with groups of enemies, and the Piercing Attack Turret perfect for penetrating enemy lines.
Support units enhance your defenses, such as the Cooling Turret and the Incendiary Turret, which boost your attack units' performance. Additionally, support attack units like the Fixed-Point Attack Unit deliver precise missile strikes, while the Linear Attack Unit unleashes devastating satellite lasers.
