Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack: Four Retro Classics Arrive
Battletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo is adding four fantastic SNES titles from the early 90s to its ever-growing library. This September update features beat 'em ups, intense racing, challenging puzzles, and even a dodgeball showdown.
First up: the iconic crossover, Battletoads/Double Dragon. Team up with the Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Choose from five playable characters: Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally released on NES in June 1993 and later ported to SNES in December 1993, this marks a long-awaited return for Battletoads/Double Dragon.
Next, get ready for some dodgeball action in Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West). Join Kunio-kun from the River City series and compete against global rivals in various exciting arenas.
Initially launched for the Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. This strategic puzzler, similar to Tetris and Puyo Puyo, challenges you to clear lines of containers and Cosmos. Three modes are available: 1P Mode (solo high score challenge), VS Mode (head-to-head competition), and 100 Stage Mode (increasingly difficult puzzles). Line up containers horizontally and use blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Cosmo Gang the Puzzle debuted in arcades in 1992 before arriving on the Super Famicom in 1993. It has seen numerous re-releases on platforms including Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
Finally, experience the thrill of Big Run! Race across challenging African landscapes, from Tripoli to West Africa's swamps, in nine intense stages. Strategic choices are key – choose your sponsor wisely, build your team, and manage resources carefully.
