Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising addition to the roster: the playable character, Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Binks wielding a staff in action-packed gameplay.
This isn't the only exciting news; Aspyr has unveiled nine additional playable characters, with more to come, expanding the already diverse cast of the original 2000 release. The remastered version aims to recapture the nostalgia of the original while enhancing the experience with features like customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support.
The trailer highlights Jar Jar's signature chaotic style and voice lines, dispelling any hopes (however unrealistic) of a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding character. Instead, he utilizes a large staff in combat. Jar Jar Binks will be available from the game's launch on January 23rd, and pre-orders are currently open.
Newly Revealed Playable Characters:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib
- Rifle Droid
- Staff Tusken Raider
- Weequay
- Mercenary
Aspyr's commitment to expanding the playable character list is evident, with a diverse range of additions including droids (Flame, Destroyer, and Rifle Droids), iconic figures like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, and even a second Gungan character. The developer plans to announce even more characters before the release.
With the release date fast approaching, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new additions and the overall improved gameplay. Aspyr's previous work on titles like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter provides hope for a successful and faithful update to this classic Star Wars game.
