Sony has officially unveiled the PC specifications for The Last of Us Part II Remastered ahead of its eagerly anticipated April 3 release date. In addition to the PC specs, Sony detailed PSN sign-in incentives and announced exciting new content for No Return Mode, available on both PC and PlayStation 5 platforms.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, developer Naughty Dog highlighted the features that Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy have incorporated into the PC version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which follows its release on the PlayStation 5 last year.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC Features:
- Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution support
- AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation
- VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate option
- DirectStorage support
- Adjustable Texture Quality
- LOD Distance Range
- Volumetric Quality
- Shadow Quality
- Ambient Occlusion
- Reflections Quality
The game also supports Ultrawide monitors, allowing players to enjoy it in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide, and even 48:9 resolutions, with compatibility for triple-monitor setups. You can experience the game in 4K resolution, with various supported controllers as well as keyboard and mouse controls. The game also boasts 3D audio capabilities.
Keyboard and mouse controls come with new customization options, including full control remapping, primary and secondary bindings, and an adaptive mode that lets players combine keyboard and controller inputs. The game supports full gamepad functionality, and DualSense controllers offer complete haptic feedback.
"The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC offers a wide range of graphics settings and presets, to ensure the best possible experience on hardware ranging from high-end PCs to handheld gaming devices," Sony stated.
The Last of Us Part 2 PC Specs:
Moving on to No Return mode, Naughty Dog is introducing two new characters from The Last of Us Part I: Bill and Marlene. Bill brings a "Smuggler" playstyle, allowing him to access a custom pump shotgun from dead drops and receive double rewards from drops. He's tougher against melee attacks but can't dodge. Marlene, on the other hand, embodies a "Risk Taker" playstyle, equipped with a Custom Assault Rifle, "All or Nothing" gambits, and the ability to reroute her No Return path once per run.
No Return mode is also set to receive four new maps: Overlook, set high above Seattle with vertical gameplay; School, the abandoned elementary school from the campaign; Streets, set in the overgrown Hillcrest neighborhood; and Nest, familiar to players who navigated an Infected-infested building as Abby. These new maps aim to enhance the variability and excitement of the mode.
All the new content for No Return, along with new Trophies and bug fixes, will be available on PS5 on the same day as the PC launch, through a free downloadable 2.0.0 patch, according to Sony.
In line with Sony’s recent decision to make PlayStation Network sign-ins optional for PC games, The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC includes an optional PSN log-in. Signing in with a PSN account grants access to the PlayStation overlay, PSN Trophies, and 50 in-game points to unlock bonus features, including a new skin for Ellie featuring Jordan A. Mun's jacket from Naughty Dog's upcoming PS5 game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. PS5 players can also unlock this skin through the 2.0 patch using in-game bonus points.
Earlier this month, The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann shared insights into Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in an interview with Alex Garland, the writer of the zombie movie 28 Days Later. Druckmann revealed that Intergalactic has been in development for four years and is set in an alternate historical timeline, focusing on themes of faith and religion, with Tati Gabrielle starring as Jordan A. Mun.
The PC release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered comes just before Season 2 of HBO's successful TV adaptation, with showrunners Druckmann and Craig Mazin confirming the return of spores in the upcoming season.
