- Sonic Rumble isn’t releasing just yet
- Sega has prepared the version 1.2 update with lots of new content
- Q&A session to be held on Discord
Despite an energetic pre-launch crossover showcasing fan favorites like Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other Sega classics, Sonic Rumble won’t be launching globally just yet. The multiplayer battle royale, which had already surpassed 1.4 million pre-registrations, was poised for a full release—but Sega has decided to delay the launch to ensure a stronger debut.
The hold-up? The development team is finalizing update 1.2, a major content drop designed to enhance the game’s chaotic fun with meaningful progression. This update introduces Rumble Rankings, Crews, and a new Skills system—three key features that add depth and strategy to the fast-paced gameplay.
Rumble Rankings will let players climb seasonal leaderboards and earn exclusive rewards, adding a competitive edge to every match. Crews will enable friends to team up and tackle cooperative score-based missions, fostering teamwork and replayability. Meanwhile, the Skills system brings unique abilities to each playable character, giving players more control over their tactics and playstyles.
Rather than rush these features into a live launch, Sega is choosing quality over speed—ensuring everything is polished and balanced before release. To keep the community engaged, a live Q&A session is scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where players can get updates straight from the team and ask their most pressing questions.
The delay doesn’t slow the game’s momentum. All pre-registration rewards remain secured, including 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin—unlocked thanks to hitting the 1.4 million milestone. Players who’ve pre-registered will start strong when the game finally drops.
In the meantime, pre-registration remains open via the links below. Sonic Rumble will launch as a free-to-play title with optional in-app purchases. For the latest news and updates, visit the official website.
