How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
Starting as a Soul Spirit, your journey to becoming a Shinigami begins by accepting a quest from the NPC, Hurt Shinigami. She's in desperate need of assistance, and by stepping into the role of a Shinigami, you commit to this path without the option to revert to a Hollow. However, becoming a Visored later offers a unique twist. If you're keen on exploring the Hollow route, refer to our dedicated Hollow progression guide.

During the crucial moment of choosing between Shinigami and Hollow, time is of the essence. Opting for a Hollow involves breaking your chain, whereas choosing Shinigami means the chain will gradually break on its own every two minutes. If you let it break completely, you'll automatically transition into a Hollow. In such a case, our resurrection moves list can guide you through your new Hollow journey.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your initial quest as a Shinigami involves purifying 6 Lost Souls, reflecting the Shinigami's duty to maintain balance by purifying souls and defeating Hollows. Following this, you'll receive a quest from an NPC near Hurt Shinigami to deliver a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.

This early phase is perfect for mastering your powers. Don't forget to purchase a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urakara shop, and if you have the funds, consider using the bus stop as a teleport/fast travel option for $200, given the game's expansive map. Alternatively, for a smoother experience, you can buy infinite fast travel for 149 Robux in the Robux Shop.

As you progress, quests will continue, marked by a red crosshair. These include defeating a Hollow, tackling 5 Corrupted Shinigamis, and other challenges until you reach level 15. Quests in Hollow Era are categorized into repeatable, progression, and path-specific quests, including Vizard and Airwalk.

Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
Maximizing your Shinigami potential involves strategic investment of skill points into your Reiatsu Skill Tree. This tree features powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami:
Caja Negacion: Launches a lightning beam from your finger, which, when combined with Electric, spreads electricity outward from the target. Shakkaho: Generates a red energy ball in your hand that explodes on impact. Enhanced with Ragdoll, it can knock back enemies, while Fire sets them ablaze. Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies towards you. Prison of Light: Encircles the enemy with six light rods, immobilizing them—a great tool against agile foes. Thunder Sear: A slowly moving ball of lightning that damages and explodes upon contact with enemies, ideal for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
To unlock your Shikai, you must reach level 15 and undertake the Shikai Training quest from Urihiro. This involves defeating Urahara Kisuke for 1,700 exp, unlocking Shikai powers upon completion.

Warning: Facing Kisuke at level 15 without optimal preparation can be tough. Consider grinding up to level 25 or higher before attempting this challenge.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random powerful ability. If unsatisfied, you can re-roll this power at Urahara Shop for a fee. Shikai is activated using the Rage Bar, which fills when you deal or take damage. Press Y (default keybind) to activate Shikai, which ends when you run out of Reiatsu or release the key.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level grows with the Mastery Points you earn by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce the Rage spent during Shikai use and come with different aura effects and visual enhancements:
Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura. Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles. Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost. Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Initially, choosing Shinigami locks you out of the Hollow path. However, reaching level 50 unlocks the opportunity to become a Visored, breaking the barrier between Shinigami and Hollow with a Hollow Mask. The Vizard quest starts at the Vizard’s Warehouse, where you'll need to obtain the Hogyoku by defeating the King of Hueco Mundo, a boss with a 1% drop rate for the Hogyoku. This marks the beginning of your Visored journey.

Hollow Era Tips and Tricks
Combat feeling overwhelming? Use the lockup button to target your primary enemy, especially useful in moments of lag or when stuck by large Hollows. Mastering blocking enemy attacks is crucial to mitigate damage from even low-level foes.
To streamline your gameplay, invest in bus teleport if possible, as it saves time traversing the expansive map. When allocating Skill Points, prioritize Strength and Speed early on for enhanced damage and mobility.
If you're ever lost, press and hold J (default keybind) to reveal markers in Karakura using your Reiatsu sense. Lastly, while Hollows offer unique gameplay, Shinigami might be more appealing if you prefer less repetitive tasks.
