The critically acclaimed and wildly popular TV adaptation of *The Last of Us* has already been greenlit for a third season, even before the second season premiered. However, fans are now asking: will there be a Season 4? According to showrunner Craig Mazin, it’s not just possible—it may be necessary.
In an interview with Collider, Mazin addressed the challenge of concluding the entire narrative arc based on the two original Naughty Dog-developed video games within just three seasons. He explained that attempting to wrap up the full story in Season 3 would result in an unrealistically long and rushed final season. While Season 3 might be longer than Season 2, he noted that “there’s no way to complete this narrative in a third season.”
Mazin expressed optimism about the potential for a fourth season, stating: “Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to come back and finish it in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome.”
