The ESRB has updated the rating for Resident Evil 6, confirming its Mature 17+ rating and adding Xbox Series X|S to the list of supported platforms. This suggests an upcoming release for current-gen consoles.

Initially released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and remastered in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, this new version is expected to also launch on PlayStation 5. While details are scarce, a notable difference is the genre description. Previous listings categorized it as a "third-person shooter," while the new ESRB entry describes it as "survival horror." This intriguing change hints at potential alterations or a renewed focus on the horror elements. Further information is anticipated soon.

Beyond this remaster, fans eagerly await news of Resident Evil 9, rumored to be set four years after the events of Resident Evil Village.
