Hiromi Wakai, Sony's VP of Product Management, announced a new PS5 beta update on PlayStation.Blog. This update, available starting today, includes personalized 3D audio profiles, improved Remote Play controls, and adaptive controller charging.
The update's highlight is personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds. Users can optimize their audio experience by creating profiles tailored to their hearing. Compatible devices like the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore allow for sound tests to generate custom profiles, promising more immersive gameplay with enhanced sound localization.

Primary users can now restrict remote access to specific individuals, ideal for households with multiple PS5 users. For users of the slim PS5 model, adaptive controller charging is introduced. This optimizes charging while the console is in rest mode, adjusting charging time based on battery level. This conserves energy by cutting power after a period of inactivity.
Beta Participation and Global Rollout
Initially, the beta is limited to invited participants in the U.S., Canada, Japan, U.K., Germany, and France. A global release is planned for the coming months. Invited users will receive email instructions on beta download and participation. Note that beta features may change or be omitted from the final release based on user feedback.

This beta follows Version 24.05-09.60.00, which introduced URL-based game session invites. Players can share a link via a QR code from the game session action card, allowing for easier open session joining. This new beta enhances these social features with greater personalization and control.
