The Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages and Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Hunter Update:Apr 10,2025

The Pokémon Company has taken a significant step to address the ongoing challenges fans face in acquiring the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a recent statement, the company acknowledged the difficulties and confirmed that reprints of popular sets are on the way, aiming to meet the high demand and improve product availability.

The launch of the latest set, "Destined Rivals," was marred by shortages, pre-order issues, and the impact of scalpers. This set, along with other recent releases like "Prismatic Evolutions" and the "Blooming Waters" box, have been highly sought after, making them difficult to obtain for many fans.

In their statement, The Pokémon Company expressed understanding of the fans' frustrations, stating, "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this." They assured that reprints would be available at participating retailers soon.

To prevent future shortages, The Pokémon Company plans to "maximize production" for upcoming TCG expansions, ensuring better availability at launch. They also committed to ongoing reprints of affected products to keep stock levels healthy, including at the Pokémon Center.

Addressing the issue of scalpers indirectly, the company emphasized its commitment to a smooth purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They employ technology, such as a virtual queue during high traffic periods, to prioritize fans. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," they added, thanking the community for their patience and support.

With these assurances, fans of the Pokémon TCG can look forward to a more accessible and enjoyable collecting experience as new sets are released. The Pokémon Company's proactive approach to these issues is a promising sign for the future of the game.
