The Outer Worlds 2 is nearly upon us, promising not only to expand in scope but to become a superior RPG in every way when it arrives on October 29 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
We believe Obsidian's sci-fi follow-up is one of this autumn's most underrated titles, perhaps overshadowed by an initial controversy after The Outer Worlds 2 was first announced as Microsoft's debut $80 title. The publisher reversed this decision just a month later, stating it would maintain the standard $69.99 price point to "align with current market conditions."
Our hands-on preview in August left us thoroughly impressed, with our impressions noting: "If it's not already evident, I'm genuinely excited by Obsidian's direction with The Outer Worlds 2. While I respected the studio's first attempt in this universe, I never fully connected with it. What the team has accomplished in this prologue, however, is precisely what I had hoped for originally. That's precisely why I'm confident The Outer Worlds 2 will join the ranks of those sequels that fully realize a promising concept and elevate it to greatness."
The official launch for The Outer Worlds 2 is October 29. However, players who purchase the $99.99 Premium Edition can begin their journey up to five days early, starting October 23 or 24 depending on their region. Xbox Game Pass subscribers with an active membership can also secure early access by upgrading to the Premium Edition for $29.99. Pre-loading for The Outer Worlds 2 is currently available.
