Get ready for some liquid metal mayhem! NetherRealm Studios has unleashed the first gameplay footage of the T-1000, the latest guest character joining the brutal roster of Mortal Kombat 1. This iconic Terminator 2 villain brings his signature blend of shape-shifting and brutal attacks to the fight. Expect to see the T-1000’s signature blade and hook arms in action, delivering moves reminiscent of Baraka and Kabal. The gameplay even showcases the T-1000 transforming into a liquid metal blob, rising from the ground with an uppercut that would make Glacius proud.
Adding to the excitement, Robert Patrick, the actor who portrayed the T-1000 in the original film, reprises his role, lending his voice to the character. A thrilling teaser shows Patrick's voice work for the first time, culminating in a spectacular Fatality that recreates the iconic Terminator 2 chase scene—the T-1000, in truck-driving glory, finishes off Johnny Cage with a hail of bullets.
But that’s not all! NetherRealm surprised fans with the announcement of Madam Bo, a fan-favorite character from the base game's story, as a new DLC Kameo fighter. We get a brief glimpse of Madam Bo in action, assisting the T-1000 during a pre-fight sequence and then again during a fight.
The T-1000 arrives in Mortal Kombat 1 on March 18th, with early access for Khaos Reigns owners, followed by general release on March 25th. Madam Bo joins the fray on March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a standalone purchase.
The T-1000 marks the final DLC character for the Khaos Reigns expansion, following Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. While fan speculation about a potential third Kombat Pack swirls, Warner Bros. Discovery’s commitment to the Mortal Kombat franchise remains strong, as CEO David Zaslav recently announced plans to double down on only four key titles, with Mortal Kombat being one of them.
Adding to the intrigue, Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat’s creative director, previously stated that NetherRealm had chosen its next project three years prior, promising continued support for Mortal Kombat 1 for the foreseeable future. While many anticipate the next installment in the Injustice series, neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. has officially confirmed this. Boon has previously cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to a new Unreal Engine as factors influencing the development timeline. However, he explicitly confirmed that the Injustice franchise is far from over.
