Niantic's latest Monster Hunter Now expansion introduces Exploration Bases – a PokéStop-inspired community feature launching with Season 7. This innovative system encourages cooperative play by letting hunters collectively strengthen local bases through exploration emblems and reports.
Rather than individual random drops, these community hubs scale their benefits based on group participation. The more hunters contribute, the greater the rewards for everyone involved.
Understanding Exploration Bases Mechanics
These bases operate on three-week cycles called Waves. Completing each Wave yields substantial rewards including Item Box expansion (+500 capacity) and up to 2,000 base reputation points. Leaderboards track collective progress, fostering friendly competition.
Unlike traditional hunts requiring gear mastery, Exploration Bases welcome all skill levels. Niantic designed this system to broaden the hunting experience beyond pure combat, emphasizing teamwork and exploration.
The inaugural Wave begins September 18, 2025, concluding October 13, 2025. The season features 8-star Riftborne Deviljho as outbreak monster, with this fearsome creature permanently joining the roster on September 22.
