Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Gains Momentum Ahead of Launch
Fox Hunt: The New Original Multiplayer Mode Replacing Metal Gear Online

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will feature Fox Hunt, a fresh multiplayer mode replacing the original Metal Gear Online. During Konami's recent PRESS START livestream on June 12, Fox Hunt Director Yu Sahara provided insights into the game's innovative approach to multiplayer.
Sahara described Fox Hunt as a "completely original online multiplayer mode" that exists within the same universe as MGS Delta while delivering distinct gameplay. This new mode replaces Metal Gear Online, which originally launched with MGS3: Subsistence for PlayStation 2.

"We deeply appreciate the dedicated Metal Gear Online fans who've awaited its return, but the multiplayer gaming landscape has evolved significantly since MGO's heyday," Sahara explained. The team focused on elevating camouflage and hide-and-seek mechanics to create their new multiplayer experience.
"We aimed to create something truly unique that goes beyond standard shootouts. By playing with the tension of remaining hidden versus hunting opponents, we've crafted an online experience that's distinctly Metal Gear," he elaborated.
Previous Metal Gear Online iterations offered traditional competitive multiplayer across MGS3: Subsistence, MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, and MGS5: Phantom Pain. Sahara confirmed that additional details about Fox Hunt will be revealed soon to give fans deeper understanding of the new mode.
Snake vs. Bomberman Confirmed as Xbox Exclusive
Earlier this year, Konami announced that PlayStation 5 and Steam versions would feature the returning "Snake vs. Monkey" mode as a platform exclusive. Meanwhile, they hinted at a similar mode coming to Xbox featuring a different character, now confirmed to be Bomberman.
This was officially revealed during MGS Delta's latest Xbox gameplay trailer, showcasing the "Snake vs. Bomberman" exclusive mode. The trailer description states: "Take control of Snake and face Bomberman in this special side mode. Clear each stage by blasting your way through!"
Konami is committed to delivering a faithful remake of this critically acclaimed title while introducing new content and modernized systems to appeal to broader audiences. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches August 28 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For ongoing updates about the game, explore our related articles below.
