Metal Slug: Awakening is a modern reimagining of the beloved 90s franchise. Following a period of development (initially teased in 2020 as Metal Slug Code: J), and a successful Southeast Asian launch in late 2023, this updated version is finally ready for a worldwide release.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug is a celebrated Japanese run-and-gun series, originally released in 1996 by Nazca Corporation and since expanded into a multimedia franchise. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises a significant upgrade.
This new iteration stays true to the core gameplay, featuring classic shooter mechanics enhanced with modernized graphics and innovative features. Rejoin your favorite Metal Slug characters in brand-new missions, across a World Adventure mode, engaging in 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and tackling challenging Roguelike levels.
