Marvel Rivals is set to enhance gameplay in Season 2 with an innovative experimental feature aimed at improving stability and reducing memory usage. Dive in to discover how this feature operates and what exciting events and updates are on the horizon.
Marvel Rivals Upcoming Features and Events
Switch Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase is rolling out an experimental feature designed to boost Marvel Rivals' stability and optimize memory usage. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 30, the upcoming Switch Shader Compilation Mode promises to enhance player experience, particularly for those with lower RAM or facing FPS issues.
In a detailed blog post on their official website, Marvel Rivals addressed player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory consumption during gameplay.
The blog elaborates, “To tackle memory overload, we're introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. Players can activate this feature through the PC launcher with the Season 2 update.” This feature is particularly beneficial for users with 16GB of RAM or less.
Upon activation, the game will see significant improvements:
- Shader compilation will occur only upon first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
- Memory usage will be dramatically reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.
The developers have highlighted some potential issues with this feature. Initially, some materials may render abnormally for a few frames at the start of each match, but they should normalize quickly. Minor stutters might also occur but will resolve shortly thereafter.
