NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals fresh and exciting with regular updates. The developers plan to roll out a new update approximately every six weeks, introducing two new heroes each quarter. This approach ensures that players will always have new content to explore and enjoy upon returning to the game.
In an insightful interview, game director Guangyun Chen revealed that each seasonal update is divided into two phases. The first half of the season brings the introduction of one new hero, while the second half introduces another, keeping the gameplay dynamic and engaging.
This strategy not only keeps the player base engaged but also captivates the audience with continuous updates that include new maps, storylines, and objectives alongside the new heroes. Among the characters already teased, Blade, who is not yet playable, and Altron, whose existence was revealed through leaks, have sparked interest. Additionally, the entire Fantastic Four team has recently been unveiled, adding to the excitement.
According to the Chinese publication GameLook, Marvel Rivals has generated approximately $100 million globally, with a significant portion of the revenue coming from the Chinese market. Marvel's successful transition from dominating the film industry to making a significant impact in the gaming sector is evident with this title.
Despite the setback with Square Enix's Avengers, Marvel Rivals has successfully filled a niche in the game-service genre. The NetEase studio has delivered a high-quality heroic shooter featuring a diverse roster of compelling characters, which has been well-received since its launch.
