Is anyone else finding it hard to keep pace with all the new Magic: The Gathering releases this year? The Edge of Eternities set just launched a few weeks back, and now we're seeing Spider-Man cards emerge, with Avatar: The Last Airbender preorders already live.
Amid this flurry of new releases, Spider-Man Collector Boosters have sold out completely at major retailers. While this may be due to limited initial stock with more arriving soon, pre-launch markups on the secondary market (the set releases September 26) are staggering.

Currently, the trusted resale site TCGPlayer lists a single Collector Booster at a "Market Price" of $88. This only contains 15 cards.
Play Booster Boxes (with 12 packs) aren't much better, approaching $1000 on the resale market, so bulk purchases aren't a cost-effective option either.
So, what's driving this frenzy? Why are Spider-Man Collector Boosters commanding such high prices already?
A combination of factors is at play. Collector Boosters are marketed as a direct path to a set's most sought-after and valuable cards. Each pack contains 11 to 13 Traditional Foil cards, alongside 5 commons, 4 uncommons, and 5 rare or higher cards, with a 'Headliner Mythic' appearing in roughly 1% of packs.

With cards like the borderless Soul Stone already reselling for around $475, the Spider-Man MTG crossover is full of high-value chase cards. However, prices may stabilize once the Universes Beyond set is widely available. The main caveat is that these premium pulls are predominantly found in Collector Boosters, which, as noted, come with a hefty price tag.
This, combined with Magic's immense popularity following the Final Fantasy and Edge of Eternities sets, the excitement for its first major Marvel crossover featuring Spider-Man, and demand far outstripping supply, makes these boosters feel as valuable as gold.

If you're hoping to get these items before the official launch, trusted resale sites like TCGPlayer remain your best option. The only item still available for standard preorder is the Play Booster Box on Amazon for $209.70.
Welcome Decks (currently around $30-$50 each) first became available at the 2025 San Diego Comic Con in late July. Another wave of these is anticipated to release closer to the set's full launch in September.
This high demand is becoming standard for Universe Beyond Collector Boosters this year. Single Final Fantasy Booster Packs have sold for over $130, and Booster Box Displays are listed around $1,400. In contrast, Edge of Eternities Collector Booster Box Displays are approximately $250, with single Collector Boosters around $35.
Wizards of the Coast has noted that its Universes Beyond crossovers, including Spider-Man, Fallout, and Assassin's Creed, have attracted many new players. They recently announced the Final Fantasy set generated a massive $200 million in first-day sales.
Given the current demand for the Spider-Man and Avatar Universe Beyond sets, it seems likely they will continue to be major players in the 2026 expansion lineup.
