Mitsuhiro Arita is a name that resonates deeply within the world of trading card artistry. Widely celebrated for his iconic illustrations in the original Pokémon Trading Card Game, including the ever-popular Charizard card, Arita has long been admired by collectors and fans alike. Now, he’s bringing his legendary artistic flair to a fresh canvas—Magic: The Gathering—through an exclusive Secret Lair drop, and we’re proud to offer you the first look at all four cards from this highly anticipated release.

This isn’t Arita’s first brush with Magic: The Gathering—his earlier contribution was a stunning borderless version of *Lumra, Bellow of the Woods* from last year’s Bloomburrow set. However, this new drop marks a significant milestone, featuring not one but four brand-new cards, released shortly after his debut piece.
Each card included in this drop holds relevance across various play formats. *Lightning Bolt*, a staple in many decks wherever it's legal, remains one of the most efficient direct damage spells in the game. *Murktide Regent*, introduced in Modern Horizons 2 (2021), has become a dominant force in both Modern and Legacy formats. Meanwhile, *Light-Paws, threshold archer* enjoys a loyal following in Commander play, and *Shorikai, Bloodcore Virtuoso* has carved out a place in Vintage Cubes while currently ranking as the 20th most popular Commander according to EDHRec.
Wizards of the Coast highlights Arita’s impact on the trading card industry on the product page, stating: “With nearly 30 years of experience creating beloved art for trading card games, Mitsuhiro Arita’s work has become some of the most recognizable in the world. His first collaboration with Magic: The Gathering was on a borderless *Lumra, Bellow of the Woods* released in 2024’s Bloomburrow, which quickly became a fan-favorite. In this Secret Lair Drop, the legendary artist returns to showcase his iconic creature design across four remarkable cards.”
As with all Secret Lair drops, this collection will be available in non-foil for $29.99 and foil for $39.99 via the [Secret Lair website](https://www.secretlair.com/). Availability begins Monday, February 10 at 9 AM PT—and only while supplies last. Given the popularity of these limited-time drops, they tend to sell out quickly. With Wizards of the Coast having moved away from its previous print-on-demand model, timing is crucial if you want to secure your copy.
