Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the highly anticipated second season of Daredevil: Born Again. The news broke during Disney's Upfront presentation in New York, as reported by Variety, putting an end to months of speculation and rumors about the return of Netflix's Defenders to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Ritter, joining her co-star Charlie Cox on stage, shared her enthusiasm about returning to the character she first portrayed in the 2015 Netflix series Jessica Jones. "It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU," Ritter expressed. "I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"

Ritter's journey with Jessica Jones began with the debut of the first season on Netflix in 2015, followed by two more seasons and the team-up series The Defenders. However, as Netflix's exclusive deal with Marvel content concluded, hopes for Ritter's return seemed to fade until 2021 when Disney regained the rights to these beloved characters.
The reintroduction of characters into the MCU started with Cox's cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and his lead role in Daredevil: Born Again. With the Punisher playing a significant part in the first season, it's fitting to see Jessica Jones join the fray in Season 2. Ritter's last appearance as the character was in the third season of Jessica Jones, which aired in 2019.
While Ritter's comments hint at a broader future for Jessica Jones within the MCU, fans can at least look forward to seeing her in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Although Disney has not yet announced a release date, showrunner Dario Scardapane has indicated that the new season is expected to premiere in March 2026.
